Mr. Jackass & The Sofa

I’m at an office in Jacksonville, FL. lounging on a beige sofa fiddling with my phone. The sofa is ripped with 10+ pieces of gaffer’s tape meekly holding it at the seam.

I’m no sofa geologist, but the patina on this piece was developed over time… drip by drip (or rip by rip).

I thought to myself: who the fuck was the first jackass that decided to remedy this with tape?!

All the others who contributed to this taped mess did the obvious: they put a piece of tape on a dilapidated sofa to keep it the best they could.

But the first Jackass. He decided that it was acceptable for this office to have a taped sofa. He didn’t make the effort to alert the authorities, to insist on getting the sofa repaired properly & professionally.

Mr. Jackass decided, “this is ok & just enough for now.”

And this my friends is precisely how businesses find themselves on the road to decay – by the logic of Mr. Jackass.
